Three reasons:

• Consistency. Professional cleaners use the right solvents, temperatures, and finishing techniques for delicate fibers. There's no guesswork.
• Protection of fit and hand. Dry cleaning helps prevent the shrinkage, felting, and distortion that can happen when fine knitwear is washed at the wrong temperature or dried incorrectly.
• Longevity. Cashmere's natural oils help resist odors and keep the yarn supple. Most days, a brief air-out and a light steam between wears is enough. Frequent washing — at home or otherwise — fatigues the fibers faster.

That said, we know some customers prefer to care for their pieces at home. If you do, the care label on the garment is always the authoritative guide.
